What is viewbotting?
Twitch
viewer botting, according to Twitch, is the deliberate
inflating of concurrent view count "using illicit scripts or tools."
View fraud bots are used by streamers to improve their broadcasts and climb the
virtual scoreboard, where they aim to garner genuine followers and views. Other
platforms operate in a similar manner, favoring popular channels over new and
unpopular ones.
Streamers rent Twitch viewer bot from the
developers that create the programs for their channels. Streamers paid $160 a
month to sites like twitchshop.com, kingofviewer.com, and others to boost their
views in one of the more well-known incidents (described below). Stream
platforms and advertisers waste millions of dollars on advertising that never
reach a substantial audience as a result of these bots.
Anyone
can easily find and buy Twitch Viewer
Bot
Any video content creator may simply buy views
online using a slew of bot services that can be accessed with a quick Google
search. Advertisers that pay per view (a CPM model) are squandering their ad
spend when these organizations manufacture phony views for their customers.
